Fireproofing Spray for Cable Fire Protection

Posted by Fire Security System on 22:00

As insurance companies and fire engineers clearly state, fires are no longer a calculable risk so protecting property assets and people is responsibility of contractors who actually develop the structures. Fireproofing is essential to stop fires on electrical cable, electrical cable penetrations and structural Steel. Fireproofing can be done via fireproofing spray, fireproof paint, fireproofing on steel and many more. Most common and easy way to protect is using Fireproofing spray on electrical cable, electrical cable penetrations and structural Steel.

There are many ways to do Cable Fireproofing or Cable Fire Protection, but best use of spray or paint is very essential in order to protect cables from heavy fire outbreak. Fireproofing spray does provide excellent protection on Cable but time frame that Cable Coating can provide to protect from a fire will depend on the intensity of the flame, type and size of cables, type of insulation and other variables. If you desire to get maximum time lapse protection from fire then a heavier coating can be applied to those areas.

Fire Security Systems Cable Coating provides dependable, maintenance free, cost effective fire protection that any other system can match. Fire Security Systems Cable Coating also protects cable insulation from exposure to fires such as those caused by lube oil or other flammable material that may accumulate around cable trays.

There are two types of cable coatings commonly used in the market and we at Fire Security Systems Fire Coating and Cable Coating is also one of the most economical and maintenance-free ways to protect cables from fire in electrical equipment, substations, cable galleries, cable spreader, control rooms and other high density cable areas.
    1. FS15 ablative Cable Coating which is extensively used in exterior and Interior Cable Coating to stop spread of flame or Fire Rate cable
    2. FS11 Intumescent Cable Coating which is extensively used for Interior Cable Coating to stop spread of flame or Fire Rate cable

Some Fireproofing Sprays or Cable Coatings are water-based, Intumescent Coating
consisting of polyvinyl acetate resins as well as fillers for the Fire Protection of structural steel. One their USP is that they are water resistant and non-toxic and easily paintable.

At Fire Security Systems, our cable coatings have the lowest Dry Film Thickness in the market. It is extremely cost effective for all and lasts life time on the cables. Our Cable Coatings are totally whether and water resistant, also they do not derate the electrical cables.

There are many online sources available that provides various Fireproof paint, Fireproof spray, cable coating and many more, so increase your awareness and make the property structures fire proof with available resources.

    Know about What Is Fireproofing?

Posted by Fire Security System on 21:58

In our routine industry world, we often come across a term called Fireproofing but how many people actually know what does that mean? Fireproofing is a Passive Fire Protection measure, refers to the act of making materials or structures more resistant to fire, or to those materials themselves, or the act of applying such materials. Applying a certification listed fireproofing system to certain structures allows these to have a fire-resistance rating. This does not really mean that an item cannot ever burn but it relates to measured performance under specific conditions of testing and evaluation. Fireproofing does not allow treated items to be entirely unaffected by any fire, as conventional materials are not immune to the effects of fire at a sufficient intensity and/or duration.

Normally fireproofing is done by adding certain materials to things that are already fire resistant. The superior materials you use, the superior fire resistances rating you are going to get. But, it is significant to keep in mind the fact that, just because something is fireproofed, does not mean that it will be entirely unaffected by fire. Nothing can ever be entirely immune to fires, but fireproofing them does give you a superior chance of having your things protected in case of a fire.

Fireproofing can be seen as many places in industries which includes steel structures to help them stay below 540 degrees of temperature. It is also used with electric circuits to keep the temperature below 140 degrees. Purpose of this is to keep it operational all the time. Fireproofing can be seen at pipe bridges at a chemical plant or in the concrete lining of a traffic tunnel. It is essential to keep these things fireproofed to stop or limit the damage bearing in mind a use of bridge or building and thus fireproofing is must.

People do use inorganic methods for fireproofing and lots of these things are designed as a Fireproofing Spray that is used to coat materials that need to be fireproofed. Spraying usually covers the surface with some coating usually known as plaster. Gypsum Plasters, Cementitious Plasters and Fibrous Plasters are famous Fireproofing plasters widely used in industries. An item which needs fireproofing determines the usage of plaster type. Again nothing can ever be entirely immune to fires, but fireproofing plasters do give you a superior chance of having your things protected in case of a fire.

Normally most of the newly constructed buildings are being made with fire walls to help
protect the buildings from fire. It helps in stopping the fire spread out to other areas of building. It is not guaranteed to stop them though but of course the damage will be less.

Cable Coating: An Integral Part of Passive Fire Protection

Posted by Fire Security System on 21:56

Passive Fire Protection is one of the essential components of structural fire protection and fire safety in a building. Basically, Passive fire protection tries to contain fires, reduces the spread and averts damage to cables and circuits. Cable Fire Protection can be achieved through use of fire-resistant walls, floors, and doors etc. Passive fire protection systems must act in accordance with the associated Listing and approval use and compliance in order to provide the effectiveness expected by building codes. Cable Coating is one of the methods used in this effectively. These protection systems help in minimizing building damage to a good effect, in case a fire breaks out and provides residents with enough time to evacuate affected areas.

Cable Coating is a method used widely in Passive Fire Protection. It assists in preventing fire spread in clustered electrical cables and prevents smoke development. Fire Security Systems Cable Coating have been tested and approved not only by FM (FM Global), but by IEC 60331-21 to show that Fire Security Systems Cable Coating can endure and FIRE RATE Cables for up to 90 minutes at DFT of 1mm, the thinnest on the market today.

Fire Stopping System offers faultless resistance toward fire swell due to its structural mechanism. The main feature in Fire Security Systems Cable Coating is its ability to prolong short circuiting. Cable Fire Protection or Fireproofing can be done via Fireproofing Spray, Fireproof Paint, Fireproofing on Steel and many more. Most common and easy way to protect is using Fireproofing spray on electrical cable, electrical cable penetrations and structural Steel. The coating can be applied through conventional methods like spraying, brushing or manually by hand. Ablation is the technique used to do the job, not insulation. The material is thick, eventually requiring a large amount of energy for disintegration. Its strong molecular composition ensures it is strong enough to even withstand fire flames. During fire outbreak, our product begins to ablate through chemical and physical reactions at the time of contact with fire. The ablation process makes the cable use huge energy with the cables being kept cool. The gases generated during process are capable enough to push oxygen away from the place, thus neutralizing flammable gases and averting continuous reaction. Upon decomposing of organic components, the residue is a solid structure of the coating which offers further protection through insulation.

Fire Security Systems Cable Coating provides reliable, maintenance free, low cost fire
protection that few, if any other, system can match. Fire Security Systems Cable Coating also protects cable insulation from exposure to fires such as those caused by lube oil or other flammable material that may accumulate around cable trays. The protection time frame that Fire Security Systems Cable Coating can provide to protect electrical cables from a fire before the insulation begins to deteriorate will depend on the intensity of the flame, type and size of cables, type of insulation and other variables.

Fire Security Systems cable coating prevents fire spread along vertical and horizontal cable ways. Protect your industry from the risk of fire outbreaks. For more information on Fire Stopping, Cable Fire Protection and Cable Coating kindly visit http://www.fire-security.net

Firestopping and understanding of FS20 Firestop Mortar

Posted by Fire Security System on 21:52

A Firestop or Firestopping is a fire protection system made from specific mechanism used to seal openings and joints in fire-resistance rated wall and/or floor assemblies, on other word Firestopping is a Passive Fire Protection system installed to prevent the movement of flame or gases to other areas of a building through small concealed spaces in building components such is floors, walls, and stairs.. Firestops are designed to re-establish the fire-resistance ratings of wall and/or floor assemblies by delaying the spread of fire by filling the openings with fire-resistant materials. Unprotected openings in fire separations cancel out the fire-resistance ratings of the fire separations, allowing the spread of fire, usually past the limits of the fire safety plan of a building. Firestops should be maintained in accordance with the listing, approval use, and compliance.

At Fire Security Systems, we supply several Firestopping products dependent on regional applications. We supply the Fire Security Systems Range, specializing in EN and BS476 approvals.

Let’s understand one of the products called FS20 Firestop Mortar compound: (Firestopping)

FS20 Firestop Compound is used to provide a fire rated seal around service penetrations in fire rated walls and floors. Tested in accordance with BS 476, Fire Security Firestop Compound provides approx. up to 6 hours fire protection. Here are some of the benefits of FS20 Firestop compound:

    ·         It comes with smoke seal & good acoustic insulation
    ·         Very simple installation
    ·         Comes with load bearing seal
    ·         It is suitable to make good around most types of service penetrations
    ·         It remains unaffected by humidity
    ·         Compound is completely maintenance free
    ·         Also comes no smoke emission attitude

Fire protection time varies depending on the application of mortar. If FS20 Firestop mortar’s thickness is 75mm then it offers fire rating of 1 – 2 hours and if thickness is 100mm then, fire rating should be around 3 – 6 hours.

FS20 Firestop Compound is a specially formulated gypsum based mortar, which is mixed with
water to be troweled or poured around service penetrations. Plastic pipework must be protected with either Fire Security Firestop Collars or Intumescent Pipe Wraps. In floors, permanent formwork panel (50mm) is cut and friction fitted between services and the edges of the floor slab. FS20 Firestop Compound is then trowelled over the form work to a depth of 25mm thick. This is allowed to harden. The FS20 Firestop Compound is then mixed to a pouring grade and tops the seal up to the required depth. In walls, FS20 Firestop Compound is mixed into a stiff consistency for trowelling into smaller openings. In larger openings, FS20 Firestop Compound can be cast into blocks which can be built into walls.

Normally most of the newly constructed buildings are being made with fire walls to help protect the buildings from fire. It helps in stopping the fire spread out to other areas of building. It is not guaranteed to stop them though but of course the damage will be less.

Fire Protection Coating - Fireproofing On Steel for Industries

Posted by Fire Security System on 21:28

What else is more appealing than steel as more and more buildings are using steelwork to display creative designs; so the imminent requirement of fireproof that steel with intumescent coatings is in high demand? Thin film Intumescent coatings for structural steel help the Architects and Engineers continue their creative vision and enhance the buildings aesthetics by letting their steel designs shine through. When it comes to fire safety, it is mandatory in building construction to offer suitable solutions and Fireproofing on steel is one of them but the process of Steel Fireproofing also includes government authorization.

Normally preservation of Fireproofing Products requires certain authorization & certifications from structural steel qualification lists. Basically, certification is based on a fire test on a high temperature measurement definite through international standards that organizes and controls the test process. Basically test criteria for steel proofing are said to be below the 400 degree C limit in Japan, unlike Europe, North America and China which reaches the 540 degree C limit. These tests are measures to describe the fire resistance ratio during outbreak.

In today’s scenario, most challenging issues in the Fire Protection Industry is reserved vs. unreserved assemblies, thus it is most important to understand this properly as misunderstanding of such significant subject leads to insufficient fire protection as well as untimely failure of the protected structured steel constructed building.

Many people are not aware about the fire test procedure which is used to intend Passive Fire Protection for structural steel identifies couple of different types of end support for beams tested in roof and floor assemblies. The base end of beams can be tested in completely reserved or completely unreserved condition. There are many advantages of Fireproofing in general environment like it dry air and offers low IR signature. The system is built in a way that one can easily apply and use. It protects against weathering and deterioration, which is also unaffected by rapid changes in temperature. Also it provides amazing resistance to thermal shock and no loss of adhesion at high temperatures.

However, the open steel normally requires Fireproofing Spray as it is compact in size. Further it requires high amounts of plaster spray which vaporizes during coating the metal. Currently structural steel requires outsourced fireproofing to prevent the steel from getting weaker when projected to the fire. During heating process, metal expands and becomes softer and eventually loses the complex integrity which it used to have. By satisfying size of energy the metal melts as well as turn into solution. The behavioral heat to the steel could be taken into lower degree temperatures with the help of appropriate fireproofing substances.

Cable Coatings Have Many Benefits for Industries to Use

Posted by Fire Security System on 21:23

    Cable Coating
Fire Security Systems Cable Coating is also one of the most cost effective and maintenance-free ways to protect cables from fire. It is completely dependable because there are no electrical or mechanical activating devices to fail, no human error to be concerned about, no tanks to refill and no periodic maintenance. Cable Coating from Fire Security Systems have been tested and approved by FM Global and IEC 60331-21. This coating is ablative Fireproofing material developed to provide complete Fire Protection to grouped & bundled cables. Application of such coating helps in preventing flame propagation during fire outbreak. Cable Coating application on cables can be done through conventional methods such as spray or brush.

After application of coating, wires and circuits are protected through ablation instead of insulation where energy is released in huge amount to change material condition. Fire outbreak can be caused via physical and chemical reactions process which consumes large amount of energy, cable coating helps to keep the cables cool at the same time and even during huge energy omission. Cable Coating also helps in keeping oxygen at bay from the surface during ablation process when any kind of gas or vapor comes out. Any flammable materials get diluted thus prevents them from spreading reaction. Also several organic materials get decomposed & remain being solid in structure of inorganic materials. What more can you ask for? Considering higher risk of fire damages, such cable coatings can become blessing to prevent heavy losses.

Cable Coatings have many benefits that make industries to use them extensively. They last as long as cables work so you can consider as one time application lasts lifetime. It does not affect any change in cable structure or design, cable stay as they were without decaying. All cable coatings are water and weather resistant. Fire Security Systems Cable Coating can withstand and FIRE RATE Cables for up to 90 minutes at at DFT of 1mm, the thinnest on the market today. The coating is quite dense and thermally conductive at normal temperatures, also thermal conductivity of way to reliable than PVC. Such fire stopping mechanism enhances cable limits and also the surface area too increases through relative roughness so it helps cable temperature to remain as it is.

Fire Security Systems Cable Coatings does provide one of the higher protection time frames to protect electrical cables from a fire. The deterioration of insulation will depend on the intensity of the flame, type and size of cables, type of insulation and other variables. In order to get the maximum time lapse protection from fire exposure, a heavier coating can be applied to those areas.

Fire Security Systems cable coating provides reliable, maintenance free, low cost Fire Protection that few systems can match.
